We recently posted our DIY concrete countertop tutorial,and we were really happy with the way they turned out. Curiosity got the best of us though, and we decided to try something different. We originally had left the countertops with a high glossy finish and we're curious what sanding it down would do, so we went for it and ended up with a pretty great matte finish that we LOVE!
So this was the master bath counter top when we originally finished
(the giant stains we're my fault when I tried to show Joe I could grout the backsplash tile - bad life choices, good thing the sink covers it).
We decided to use the palm sander on the countertop to - fingers crossed! - get a cool matte finish.
We think it actually turned out pretty cool!
Not only does it look cool - it actually has a cool soft/smooth feel to it.
