Craft Project From The Heart

Friday, February 14, 2014

For our anniversary one of the gifts I gave Joe was a collection of heart shaped maps. I wanted it to be a thoughtful gift to hang somewhere in our house, so we could remember all the places we've been in the past year (and distract from all the crazy amount of hours spent sweating our renovation). I normally wouldn't post about something cheesy like this, but the second thing Joe said after telling me how much he loved it was, "your going to put this on the blog right?" I kinda felt I had to. So my love, this is literally, for you.

For this project I picked up a Jumbo Craft Heart Punch (I wasn't going to even bother trying to cut a perfect heart - can't, would drive me insane), as well as some Elmer's glue and photo paper. I used the smaller 4x6 picture papers instead of a full sheet because I'd have to fit it into the punch anyway.

For the backdrop I used some Kraft Postal paper from Target, it was left over from Christmas gift wrapping.

Once you've punched out each map and laid them out the way you'd like, go ahead and add glue to the back and press down firmly. To keep the hearts flat and smooth I laid the glass on top and let it dry.

Once it's dry, reassemble the frame and your done!

Thankfully, he liked it! And hung it in the hallway right outside our bedroom :)

Fun fact (sorta): The center heart is actually our house, first place is a big deal! The bottom left is where we met and the rest are some of our adventure destinations :)
